MOBILE, AL, April 25, 2023: The Alabama State Conference of the NAACP will announce its 71st Annual Convention at a press conference on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 11:00am at the Mobile Government Plaza, 205 Government Street, Mobile, AL 36602.
The 71st Annual Convention will be held September 28 – October 1st, 2023 at the Mobile Marriott. This year’s ASC Conference theme is “Demanding and Pursuing Equity. “Equity is important because it ensures fairness and impartiality in the distribution of resources and opportunities. It helps to eliminate discrimination and promote equal access to education, healthcare, employment, and other essential services,” said Benard Simelton, President AL NAACP. “Ultimately, equity is crucial for building a just and inclusive society where everyone has the chance to thrive, ” added Simelton.
Robert Clopton, President of the Mobile County Branch 5044 of the NAACP said, “We welcome the Alabama State Conference of the NAACP as we host the 71st Annual NAACP State Convention. We are living in historical times, and are working diligently to produce a positively memorable event with lasting impact for the state for years to come.”
