Spiritual, Health Professionals Called To Assist Grief-Stricken Community in Hiawayi Robinson’s Death

The Mobile Branch NAACP #5044 will hold a press conference today at 11 a.m. calling on fellow ministers and mental health professionals to help the community deal with its overwhelming grief at the death of little Hiawayi Robinson.

The press conference will be at the Pilgrim Rest AME Zion Church located at 125 Greer Avenue Whistler, AL. The church is not far from the place where her body was found on Sept. 18 after a massive community search following her disappearance two days earlier.

“Our community needs healing from the pain and fear they are feeling over the death of this precious child,” said Mobile NAACP President Ronald Ali.

“While we grieve for Hiawayi’s family, parents are holding their children closer. Children are asking their parents to lock the doors. Hundreds of people who don’t even know this little girl and her family are expected to attend her visitation. This great outpouring of grief can turn in negative ways if we don’t come together to address it,” Ali said.

Ali said he is asking churches, health professionals, and community organizations to identify themselves and offer services to members of the community who need spiritual and emotional support to deal with this tragedy.
